Skin Problems

What are they?

The feet can become infected by a virus, fungus or bacteria. The presentation can be in various ways. Skin problems can be flaky, itchy, red, blistered and in some cases discoloured. Each person can respond differently so these areas should be looked at.

Fungal infections can occur on both the skin on the foot and the nails. The fungus thrives in communal, warm, damp areas such as showers and changing rooms in gyms or swimming pools. The infection can present itself as dry, flaky skin or a white area in between the toes, which may or may not itch.

Other common skin conditions are psoriasis or eczema which can be uncomfortable or unsightly.

Why treat them?

If left untreated infections inside your body can cause more serious health problems than those on your skin. Fungal skin infections can cause cracks or blistering of the skin.
